How to Cook Beef Pares

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup beef brisket cut into serving pcs
  • 1 tbsp garlic minced
  • ¼ cup onion chopped
  • ¼ cup ginger julienned
  • ¼ cup onion leeks cut into 1” pcs
  • 2 pcs star anise
  • 1 pc laurel leaf
  • 1 tsp whole peppercorns
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp ground pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • Cooking oil

Instructions
 

  • Heat about 2 tbsp cooking oil in a pan. Add the ginger, garlic, and onion. Sauté until the onion becomes translucent.
  • Mix in the laurel leaf and whole peppercorns.
  • Add the beef. Cook until meat turns light brown.
  • Add the star anise, ground pepper, salt, onion leeks, sugar, water, and soy sauce. Mix well. Simmer on low heat for 1 hour or more or until the sauce thickens and the meat is tender.
  • Serve with rice.
